VERSATILITY OF CROSS LEG FLAP

Life boat flap the so called cross leg flap is whole sole answer to defects of the lower leg.Since no great training is needed . Its just like any other fasciocutaneous flap but from the opposite leg.

PROCEDURE

Cross leg flap is still the lifeboat for lower leg defects.Based on the Anterior Tibial vessel perforators. Taken from Opposite leg.Its a fasciocutaneous flap.

INDICATIONS

Covers chronic bone defects and in patients where local flap options are ruled out.

Raw area over the donor site is covered with SSG.Flap inset is given on three edges of the flap.

POST OP FOLLOW UP

Usually a flap delay after 2 wks is done 50% . At 21st day division and inset on the fourth edge is given.
